Historic Mines Services comprising three lots: Lot 1 concerns monitoring (environmental, water, dust, geotechnical and geoheritage) of two historic mine sites; Lot 2 concerns Critical Failure Assessment for two tailings management facilities and Lot 3 concerns a physical risk inventory for approx. 138 historic mine sites in Ireland. Monitoring Services

Lot 1 Monitoring Services: Environmental, geotechnical and geoheritage monitoring of Avoca and Silvermines. To include: • Reviews of conceptual flow model, monitoring objectives and monitoring network integrity at the sites; • Twice a year environmental monitoring including surface water, groundwater and dust; • Annual geotechnical and geoheritage monitoring.

Critical Failure Assessment

Lot 2 Critical Failure Assessment: Assess nature, effects and mitigation of dam breach at Gortmore and Shelton Abbey Tailings Management Facilities. To include: • Geotechnical review of site characterisation data • Critical Failure Assessment including: Risk assessment including credible failure scenarios; dam breach modelling and consequence classification. • Emergency preparedeness response plan (EPRP) for dam failure. • Expert Final Report & Regulatory Presentations. • Design for interim early warning system for embankment failure at Gortmore TMF. • Review of CFM and ERP after three years, or after substantive changes to the condition of the site (incidental or due to remediation works).

Risk Inventory

Lot 3 Risk inventory: National inventory, risk assessment and prioritisation of physical risks at approx. 138 historic mine sites nationwide. To include: • Desk study on each site using available information. • Physical risk inspection and surveys of surface features at all sites. • Development of inventory, assessment and prioritisation scheme. • Report and GIS maps.
