The University Hospital of North Norway HF (UNN) intends to enter into a contract with Vitrolife for the procurement of an hourly lapseinkubator for cultivation and monitoring of embryos, which shall ensure optimal culturing conditions for treatment with assisted fertilisation. The incubator shall have integrated, user friendly and automated software/artificial intelligence that shall help identify the best embryos, based on the following parameters: • Morphinetics (time specific morphological changes) during embryo development • Morphology of fertilised oocyte and embryos • Blastomer division (number, fragmentation and symmetry) • Timing of cell division • Dividing pattern (kinetics) of eggs (oocytes and embryos) and symmetry • Presence of specific cell structures such as pole bodies, pronuclei, number of blastomers, fragmentation etc. • Embryoscoring on days 3 and day 5 • Blastocystekspansjon/-quality o Inner cell mass (degree of gasket/number of cells) o Trofoektoderm (pack degree/number of cells) In addition, we would like artificial intelligence based on a neuronal network for evaluating embryos quality that can be used to select the best embryo for returning to the woman. The above mentioned parameters offer options to follow the embryo development on days 1 -5 after fertilisation, which gives the best assessment of the quality of the embryo. In order to meet UNN's requirements, the incubator must have capacity for continual monitoring of minimum 15 patients with 16 embryos per patient. The contracting authority announced a market survey in March 2026 to map possible suppliers and it was estimated that only Vitrolife can deliver a system in accordance with the customer ́s needs. It is, therefore, that the exception in the Public Procurement Regulations §13-4 letter b) no. 2 will apply. Any objections are requested to be submitted within 15 days after the publication date via the communication module in Ivalua. The contract will be signed after the waiting period has expired.
