Maintenance and repair of diaphragms
KRA - Maintenance and repair of diaphragms
The Services comprise the repair of diaphragms for geothermal steam turbine at Krafla, with an option for the manufacture of individual new diaphragms. The Services involve one set of 10 diaphragms for a 30MW, 2 x 5-stage double-flow turbine. The diaphragms consist of 20 halves, with diameters ranging from approximately Ø1.7 m to Ø2.3 m. They are mainly made of carbon steel, with stainless-steel blades. The repairs shall be carried out by qualified personnel with the specified minimum experience in diaphragm repairs. The Employer shall arrange for delivery of the diaphragms to the Contractor's workshop in Iceland and shall collect them upon completion of the repairs. The Services are divided into three parts: Part 1: The Contractor shall assess the scope of the required work and submit proposals for remedial measures, together with a cost estimate based on the unit rates tendered. A Contract will be entered into for Part 1. Part 2: Following assessment in Part 1, the Contractor shall carry out the repairs to the diaphragms as approved by the Employer's Project Manager. One contract amendment will be entered into covering Part 2 and Part 3, as applicable. Part 3: Following assessment in Part 1, the Contractor shall procure one or more new diaphragms, as approved by the Employer's Project Manager. One contract amendment will be entered into covering Part 2 and Part 3, as applicable. Based on the Employer's experience from previous comparable projects, it is anticipated that new diaphragms will be procured for Stage 2, while diaphragms in the other stages will be repaired. In addition, the Employer reserves the right to order one or more new diaphragms at the unit rates tendered under this tender for a period of up to 12 months from the opening of tenders.
