HIV Prevention Service
Given significant improvements in prevention and declines in new cases, the government has made a commitment to end HIV transmissions in England by 2030. As recommended in the recent report from the HIV Commission reviewing progress towards this goal, achieving this will require a significant boost in prevention, testing, and early diagnosis, alongside an increased focus on tackling stigma, discrimination, and health inequalities within the health system. The work of the HIV Support and Prevention Service will complement other (HIV specific and generic) health and social care services and enable people living with and affected by HIV in Kirklees to live independent lives, effectively manage their long-term condition, and enjoy good quality of life and health and wellbeing. It will also work to reduce (and ultimately eliminate) HIV transmission, reduce late diagnosis rates, and tackle HIV related stigma and discrimination.
