Ulster Wildlife is seeking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified contractor to undertake invasive species treatment and scrub removal works at Ballynahone Bog SAC. The works form part of the PEAT+ project, funded by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body. The contract will support the restoration of active lowland raised bog habitat by reducing invasive species pressure, preventing further scrub encroachment, and facilitating future hydrological restoration works. The contract will involve the treatment and removal of rhododendron and cherry laurel across approximately 7.5 ha, together with dense and light scrub and tree clearance across approximately 2.1 ha. Required works will include, as appropriate, hand pulling, foliar spraying, cut-and-stump treatment, drill-and-fill/stem injection, chipping, piling, handling and removal of arisings, consolidation of previous brash material, and annual follow-up control. The works will be delivered in phases between 2026 and 2029 and will be subject to relevant statutory consents, licences, site conditions and seasonal/environmental constraints. Attendance at a pre-submission site visit is strongly recommended to enable tenderers to understand site access, ground conditions, operational constraints and environmental sensitivities before submitting a tender. Ballynahone Bog is a sensitive priority peatland habitat and contractors will be expected to comply fully with the conditions of work set out in the tender documents and accompanying attachments. These include, but are not limited to, restrictions on timing of works, use of biodegradable oils, machinery requirements, and measures to minimise disturbance to priority habitats and species. Contractors should review all tender sections and attachments carefully before submitting a tender. Internal identifier: ITT:itt_39543
