The procurement is for the award of an NHS Standard Contract for the provision of specialist children’s palliative and end of life hospice care services for babies, children and young people aged 0-18 years across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The service provides holistic, family-centred care for children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, including specialist symptom management, respite care, end of life care, advance care planning, emotional and psychological support, transition support, and bereavement services. The service is delivered through a multidisciplinary model across hospice, home, community, education and hospital settings, with access to Children’s Hospice South West's purpose-built Little Harbour Hospice in Cornwall. The contract supports the delivery of high-quality, coordinated palliative and end of life care in line with national and local commissioning priorities.

This award has been made under direct award A of the Provider Selection Regime 2023. Children's Hospice South West are the only children's hospice provider within the South West region. They have purpose built facilities within Cornwall.

The Contracting Authority considers that the provider is the only organisation capable of delivering the required services, due to its operation of the only purpose-built children's hospice facility in Cornwall and its established specialist multidisciplinary children's palliative and end of life care service.
