Edoxaban Review Service
Edoxaban Review Service is a service that requires a clinical review of all patients prescribed edoxaban for atrial fibrillation registered with GPs in BCUHB to assess if they are suitable for a more cost effective alternative and then change those that are. Part 1 - Edoxaban Patient Review Clinical review of the records of patients prescribed edoxaban. Anyone not deemed suitable for the switch must be evidenced in the records, consider using the phrase Edoxaban switch not clinically appropriate (no code) or, Edoxaban contraindicated (SNOMED CT:2949391000000118) or, Adverse reaction to edoxaban (SNOMED CT:1957181000006103). Those deemed suitable for a switch proceed to a consultation with the patient or their representative. Consultations to switch edoxaban to generic apixaban or generic rivaroxaban can be done via telephone, virtually or face-to-face. This must be documented in the notes, consider using the phrase Edoxaban switch clinically appropriate (no code) or, Edoxaban declined (SNOMED CT:1443911000000106) Part 2 - Edoxaban Patient Review that results in a switch to generic apixaban or generic rivaroxaban If clinically appropriate and the patient agrees to the switch to either generic rivaroxaban or generic apixaban; prescribe as indicated.
