BME Mental Health Support Service- Cardiff and Vale University Health Board
Provision of a culturally sensitive community-based mental health support service for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The service will provide early intervention, emotional wellbeing support, advocacy, information, advice, guidance and signposting to individuals experiencing mental health challenges or at risk of developing poor mental health. The service will work to reduce health inequalities and improve access to mental health support for underserved communities by delivering person-centred, recovery-focused interventions that reflect the cultural, linguistic and social needs of the population served. Support may include one-to-one assistance, peer support, wellbeing activities, community engagement, awareness raising, and support to access statutory and voluntary sector services. The provider will work collaboratively with primary care, secondary mental health services, local authorities, community organisations and other stakeholders to promote mental wellbeing, strengthen community resilience and improve outcomes for individuals. The service aims to support prevention, reduce social isolation, improve resilience and wellbeing, and enable individuals to access appropriate support at the earliest opportunity
