Cork City Library Development
Cork City Council intends to transform the historic Counting House complex (just under 8000 sq metre floor area) in the city centre into a new world-class city library that will serve as a landmark civic, cultural and educational destination for Cork. Located within the former Beamish and Crawford historic brewery site, the development will replace the existing Grand Parade library with a future-focused facility of significant scale and ambition. The Council’s vision is to create a transformative and internationally significant library that brings together heritage, culture, education, technology and innovation in a flagship institution for the city. The Council plans to seek out and work in collaboration with strategic partners and leaders across culture, education, AI, technology, community engagement, tourism and funding; the project aims to deliver a vibrant, future-proofed civic beacon that supports learning, creativity, business and public life at the heart of Cork City.
