West Northamptonshire Council intends to establish a new framework for the provision of Varenicline or Cytisine, under a Patient Group Directions (PGD) and referrals made through the West Northamptonshire Stop Smoking Service.

This service will support the delivery of consultation, assessment and supply of prescribed medications for smoking cessation, Cytisine and Varenicline.  Through ease of access to appropriate stop smoking treatments, the service will contribute towards a reduction in smoking prevalence across West Northamptonshire by supporting a high-quality stop smoking service provision.  The anticipated contract start date is 4 January 2027.
