The objective of the preliminary project is to give Bergen municipality a professional basis for assessing the possibilities for the use of pyrolysis in Bergen. The preliminary project shall provide a knowledge basis on relevant raw materials, areas of use, technological solutions, resource and environmental effects, value creation potential in Bergen as well as any establishment of pilot projects. The assignment shall not include detailed engineering design services for or the realisation of a concrete pyrolysis system.  Bergen municipality c/o the Agency for Urban Environment would like to examine how pyrolysis can contribute to improving the utilisation of local resources, reducing waste amounts and creating new value. The preliminary project shall provide the municipality with a knowledge basis on the potential for pyrolysis in Bergen and form the basis for further assessments of relevant measures, collaboration models and pilot projects. The review shall include relevant raw materials, areas of use and technological solutions, without being limited to specific waste fractions or technologies.
