The Barbican Centre, on behalf of the City of London Corporation (the City) invites Bidders to complete and submit a request to participate in the Procurement for the provision of a Heritage Luminaire Manufacturer for the Barbican Renewal Programme (BRP). The Heritage Luminaire Manufacturer will produce bespoke light fittings for the BRP. The supplier will be appointed directly by the Barbican Centre on behalf of the City and will be responsible for manufacturing the bespoke light fittings. Installation will be undertaken by a trade contractor under the Construction Manager (CM). The appointment will commence in November 2027 and extend through to November 2030, with an estimated value of £1,100,000 excluding VAT. The delivery of the heritage luminaires on site is targeted for the end of 2028. The scope of the Heritage Luminaire Manufacturer is to produce a custom lighting fixture for the public spaces within the Barbican Centre, namely: - Main Foyers Level B1, 0 and 1 - Lakeside/ Main Foyer canopy (external) - Art Gallery Foyer, Conservatory Terrace and Garden Room - Art Gallery/ Sculpture Court canopy (external) The luminaires shall incorporate a modular and adaptable design suitable for installation within single-, double-, and triple-height spaces. See the Scope of Requirements document and Appendices for full information. The appointment will be procured through a two-stage tender process, with the overall tendering and prototype development programme anticipated to be completed over a period of approximately one year. The appointed manufacturer shall be required to collaborate closely with the existing project team, including Allies and Morrison, Asif Khan Studio, Buro Happold, Gardiner & Theobald, Blue Sky Building, les éclaireurs, Alan Baxter, and others to ensure the successful coordination, development, and delivery of the bespoke lighting fixture. During the installation phase, the CM will assume responsibility for the coordination and management of all trade contractors on site, overall site logistics, and the integration of individual package programmes into a coherent and deliverable whole. The Heritage Luminaire Manufacturer shall ensure that the bespoke lighting fixtures are manufactured, coordinated, and delivered in accordance with the project programme, and shall be fully prepared to meet all required delivery dates as instructed by the Client and Project Team.
