National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is seeking a supplier to design, manufacture, supply, commission and support two (2) fully integrated, trailer-mounted mobile transformer oil processing vehicles, with an option, at NGET´s sole discretion, to purchase up to two (2) additional equivalent units under the resulting contract. Any additional purchases will be subject to business requirements, funding approval and satisfactory performance of the initial units. The solutions shall be road-legal, self-contained and suitable for deployment at operational substations and construction sites throughout UK.
The scope includes:
• Design, manufacture, testing, supply and delivery of two (2) mobile transformer oil processing trailers, with an option for NGET to purchase up to two (2) additional equivalent units under the resulting contract.
• Provision of transformer oil treatment plant capable of oil filtration, drying, degassing and vacuum processing operations, including a minimum oil processing capability of 7,500 litres/hour at 50°C.
• Integrated vacuum systems capable of transformer and chamber vacuum treatment, both independently and simultaneously.
• Supply of an onboard power generation system including generator, fuel storage, distribution equipment and changeover facilities for external power sources.
• Installation of monitoring, control and automation systems, including PLC/SCADA functionality, process alarms, operational data recording and remote-access capabilities.
• Provision of welfare facilities, environmental controls, storage arrangements and operational workspaces suitable for field personnel.
• Incorporation of all required safety, fire protection, emergency lighting, access and environmental protection systems in accordance with applicable UK legislation and industry standards.
• Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning and demonstration of operational performance.
• Delivery of complete technical documentation, operating manuals, maintenance schedules, drawings, software licences and spare parts recommendations.
• Provision of operator and maintainer training, warranty support, technical assistance and after-sales service arrangements for the lifecycle of the asset.
Expected Outcome:
Two (2) fully operational mobile transformer oil treatment and vacuum processing vehicles that enable safe, reliable and efficient transformer oil conditioning, moisture removal, degassing and associated maintenance activities across the NGET transmission network, while maximising operational availability and long-term asset value. The resulting contract will also provide NGET with the option to procure up to two (2) additional equivalent units, subject to business requirements, funding approval and satisfactory performance of the initial units.
