The contract concerns the purchase of an OPM-MEG. The contracting authority intends to award the contract concerning the delivery of an OPM-MEG to CFIN, Aarhus University through negotiated procedure without prior publication, as the supplies can only be provided by a particular economic operator for technical reasons. These technical reasons are specifically related to uniqueness in terms of form, function, or performance – and cannot be obtained on the open market in a comparable form – i.e., only one supplier is able to provide the instrument in question. The Center of Functionally Integrative Neuroscience (CFIN) at Aarhus University requires an Optically Pumped Magnetometer MEG (OPM-MEG) system to support an active program of human neuroimaging research. The research involves recording brain activity non-invasively in healthy adults, clinical populations, and pregnant women (fetal neurophysiology). CFIN plans to also record MEG from small children in the near future. These applications have the following requirements to be technically and ethically viable within an adequate failsafe safety margin: • Sensor surface temperature ≤46°C after 30 minutes of continuous operation mounted on the head or abdomen to avoid burn hazards and to allow the sensors to be arranged more densely and enable longer data collection sessions. • Sensor noise floor <18 fT/√Hz to ensure reliable detection of weak neural magnetic signals targeted by current and proposed research projects. • Sensor dimensions ≤16 × 16 × 40 mm to enable dense sensor coverage of target brain regions and fetal measurements. • Full-head coverage extending to C1 to enable reliable cerebellar and posterior fossa measurements. No other supplier on the market offers this solution in one system. Only the HEDscan 96-sensor from FieldLine meets all mentioned essential requirements.
