Riverine Community Park Project
The Riverine Community Park will consist of the creation of new community park infrastructure with multi-purpose community facilities and amenities at Lifford and Strabane. The project includes a 120m span cycle and pedestrian bridge across the River Foyle linking the park areas. The works at Lifford will include: • Construction of a single storey community resource building with a gross internal floor area approx. 305m² • Provision of a multi-functional outdoor space and external stage area to accommodate a variety of outdoor events; • Creation of play areas, walkways and cycleways and all associated drainage requirements. • Associated landscaping inclusive of the wetlands of the River Foyle • Amenity lighting • Provision of car parking and provisions for cycle parking • Site Security including estate style fencing, 2.4m high security fencing and lockable vehicle and pedestrian gates • Construction of an access road connecting with Lifford. • Provision of a new 10kV ESB Substation and diversion underground of existing MV (10kV/20kV) ESB overhead cables traversing the site; • Provision of a new wastewater pumping station for onward transfer of foul wastewater to the local network; • Works on the foreshore including construction of a cast in-situ concrete slipway, 5m wide and the provision fishing pods and a farm access track over the existing flood defence • Landowner Accommodation works and associated spectator stand building to accommodate 123 no. persons. The works at Strabane will include: • Access to Riverine Park via A5, including a new controlled pedestrian crossing point. • Access to the proposed Riverine Bridge via the existing Strabane North Greenway. • Associated landscaping and lighting works. The scheme also includes a 120m total span cycle and pedestrian bridge (with 90m and 30m spans) across the River Foyle. The Bridge will be a Design & Build element, with detailed design to be provided by the Contractor’s Team. The Contractor will be required to provide the following design / consultancy service within their team. • Bridge Designer • Archaeologist • Ecology consultant, including Ecological Clerk of Works.
