De Gemeente Zaanstad wil het bestaande DRIS vernieuwen. Vlaggenmast displays moeten worden vervangen met de mogelijkheid om de bestaande masten te hergebruiken. Abridisplays wil de Gemeente vervangen door E-ink displays in een haltebord die aan een mast of op een (halte)paal kunnen worden bevestigd. Bij het station Zaandam en het knooppunt “De Vlinder” wordt het DRIS vernieuwd. De Gemeente ontvangt voor de vernieuwing van displays subsidie van Vervoerregio Amsterdam, maar dient het onderhoud zelf te betalen. De subsidie vereist dat de oplevering voor 30 september 2027 is afgerond.
