The CDS contract delivers a range of specialist dental services across Kent and Medway for patients who are unable to access or receive treatment within a general dental practice setting. The service includes Special Care and Paediatric Dentistry (SCPD), which provides referral-only dental care for children and adults with additional needs, including those with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, complex medical conditions, or who require additional support to receive dental treatment. The contract also includes specialist periodontic services for patients requiring advanced periodontal treatment within the East of the county, a Kent and Medway domiciliary dental service for patients who are living in care homes and unable to attend a high street dental practice, and a dental helpdesk service supporting patients across Kent and Sussex. Access to these services is primarily through referral from general dental practitioners, medical practitioners, or other healthcare professionals. The contract supports the delivery of equitable access to specialist dental care for vulnerable and underserved populations across Kent and Medway. The Commissioner has followed PSR Direct Award Process C for the award of this contract. The total expected value of the contract for the initial 36-month contract term is £18,514,522. The contract period will commence on 1st April 2026 The existing service will not change, and the new contract will be based on current clinical standards.
