The Corridor VIII is a key component of the European transport system and the segment of the Railway Corridor VIII traversing the Republic of North Macedonia has a missing link leading to the Republic of Bulgaria. It is structured in three sections: (i) Kumanovo to Beljakovce (Phase 1, 30.8 km) currently in DLP, (ii) Beljakovce to Kriva Palanka (Phase 2, 34 km) presently under construction and Kriva Palanka to Deve Bair (Phase 3, 22.1 km) - this segment leads towards up to the cross-border tunnel with Republic of Bulgaria. This procurement notice refers particularly for the section “Construction of new railway section from Kriva Palanka to the cross-border tunnel with Republic of Bulgaria”. The objective of the assignment is supervision for construction of a single-track electrified railway line from Kriva Palanka to the cross-border tunnel (Phase 3), signalling and telecommunication for Phase 3, as well as electrification of the line from Kumanovo to the border with the Republic of Bulgaria (Phase 1, 2 and 3). The consultant will carry out the duties of the Engineer as governed by the Conditions of Contract for Construction for Plant and Design – Build (FIDIC Yellow Book, 1999), provision of the supervision services in the capacity of the “FIDIC Engineer” and supervision as stipulated by Macedonian legislation. The supervision will counsel the Client on managing the contracts with due diligence, ensuring all obligations specified in the Project's Financing documents, including loan, grant and project agreements, as well as the respective service contract and terms of reference (ToR) are adequately addressed and fulfilled.
