NRK has also sold their headquarters in Oslo with the intention of moving into new premises within 4 to 6 years. In parallel, there is an ongoing technology change in the media branch from dedicated audio and video infrastructure to a more IT like media infrastructure. At the same time, dedicated production equipment is replaced by software and cloud services. Provided that this will affect the technology choices for the new headquarters, NRK plans to establish an IP-based media infrastructure in the existing premises so that new IP-based production and publication facilities can be linked together to gain experience and reduce the risks related to the future traits. Our goal is to be operative on an IP platform before the move.
