The Bank of England provides banking, payments and custodial services to a range of domestic and international customers, including central banks, government entities and systemically important financial institutions. These activities support the Bank´s mission to maintain monetary and financial stability and involve the movement of high-value domestic and cross-border transactions through a range of payment and messaging channels. The Bank maintains a robust financial crime control framework and is committed to complying with all applicable sanctions, anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF) and fraud prevention requirements. Technology plays a critical role in this framework by monitoring customer activity, identifying unusual or anomalous behaviour, supporting sanctions screening, and enabling the investigation and management of financial crime risks.
The Bank is reviewing its technology capability across transaction screening and monitoring for financial crime, covering fraud, sanctions and AML/CTF. Through this market engagement exercise, the Bank is seeking information on current and emerging solutions, as well as deployment approaches.
