The Scottish Government established the Bairns Hoose model in 2023. This model is based on the internationally acclaimed Barnahus approach, which was first established in Iceland in 1997. The
Bairns Hoose aims to provide a trauma-informed environment for children who are victims or witnesses of abuse, centralizing services to reduce trauma for children.
Funding has been allocated to each local authority to develop Bairn's Hoose services at a local level. West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership(WD HSCP) have been allocated funding to develop the local Bairns Hoose.
